My Perspective on Digital Transformation
I believe digital transformation should make work simpler, not just make an existing process digital.
One principle I strongly believe in is: “If we did not simplify the process, we failed to digitise the transformation.”
Too often, digital transformation becomes an exercise of taking what we already do manually and putting it into a new system. We may call it digital, but if people are still entering the same information multiple times, moving data between different systems, or relying on someone to connect the missing pieces, then we haven’t really transformed much.
For me, real transformation starts by breaking down silos and looking at the process from end to end. Systems, teams and data should be connected wherever possible, so information can flow naturally instead of being repeatedly recreated or re-entered.
Data also plays an important role. We should look at what information we are already collecting, where it comes from, where it is being duplicated, and how it can be reused. Enter it once, use it many times. That alone can remove a lot of unnecessary work and reduce the opportunity for human error.
Technology and AI can certainly help us get there, but they are not the transformation by themselves. The real measure is much simpler: Did we remove unnecessary steps? Did we connect the missing links? Did we make it easier for people to get the work done?
If the answer is yes, then we are transforming—not just digitising.

Ideas in action.
#01 SC PRINT + HP PRINTOS COMPOSER API — EXPLORING WHAT THE NEXT PRINT OPPORTUNITY COULD LOOK LIKE.
SC Print started as an experiment around a simple question: Can AI create new print applications and new business opportunities, rather than simply improve the way we produce what already exists?
One area we are exploring is AI-generated personalised Anime Trading Cards — a micro-segment that we believe has interesting growth potential, particularly as consumers increasingly look for products that are personal, creative and unique to them. But generating the image is only one part of the story. The bigger challenge is what happens behind the scenes when you need to turn many individual personalised orders into an efficient print-production workflow.
This is where we are exploring the HP PrintOS Composer API — connecting individual customer orders, batching them for production, and automatically composing the personalised artwork and variable data required for printing. The idea is to create an automated journey from
customer order → AI-generated personalised content → order batching → variable data composition → print production.
For me, SC Print is not just about creating Anime Trading Cards. It is a small-scale experiment in how AI, APIs, automation and digital printing can come together to create new applications and potentially new business models. Sometimes innovation doesn't have to start with a big idea. It can start with a small opportunity — then connect all the missing pieces around it.
#02 DEMONSTRATING A TRUE END-TO-END WORKFLOW LIVE AT PACK PRINT BANGKOK!
Live photos are submitted through OnPrintShop Web-to-Print, with orders flowing directly into HP PrintOS Site Flow.
From there, print jobs are automatically imposed and padded with the relevant order information before being sent to the HP Indigo Digital Press through HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server.
From photo submission to order processing, prepress and print — one connected workflow with fewer manual touchpoints and no unnecessary duplication.
#03 EXPLORING WHAT’S POSSIBLE WITH THE HP PRINTOS PRINT BEAT API...
Sometimes the best way to understand the potential of an API is simply to build something with it.
I created a Rainmeter skin for Windows that connects to the PrintOS Print Beat API and brings HP Indigo press performance information directly onto the desktop as a simple widget.
No need to constantly open another application or browser window — key production information can be right there on your desktop while you work.
But the desktop widget itself is really just a small demonstration of what is possible.
Imagine taking the same Print Beat data and connecting it with your MIS or ERP system. Production information from the press could become part of a much broader business workflow — combining operational and production data, reducing duplicate data entry, and giving different parts of the organisation access to the information they need.
And that is where APIs become interesting to me. It is not simply about accessing data. It is about connecting systems that previously operated in silos and finding practical ways to close the missing links between them. A small Windows widget today could be the starting point for a much more connected production environment tomorrow.
#04 ADVOCATING, ENABLING AND TRAINING OUR CUSTOMERS.
Over an intensive 1.5 weeks, we took our end-to-end solutions workshop across 2 countries and 4 cities, meeting and training close to 150 customers face-to-face.
The objective was not simply to introduce individual tools or features, but to help customers understand how the different pieces can come together as one connected production workflow.
We covered HP PrintOS, including the newly announced Jobs and Supplies Inventory, together with OEE and Color Beat — two capabilities I highly recommend for customers looking to better understand, measure and improve their production performance.
We also went beyond the press, covering SmartStream Designer Collage, Web-to-Print, Pre-press Automation and Print Production, complemented by solutions and expertise from our local solution partners.
What made these workshops valuable was the opportunity to work directly with customers, discuss their actual production challenges and demonstrate how automation and connected solutions can remove manual steps and simplify the journey from order to production to print.
For me, this is an important part of Digital Transformation: not just bringing more technology into the workflow, but helping people understand how to connect it, use it and ultimately make their operation simpler and more productive.
